Haitian cuisine has made its mark in Montreal’s culinary scene. Dishes such as griot (fried pork), diri djon djon (black mushroom rice), and pikliz (spicy pickled vegetables) are popular among Montrealers and are often found in Haitian restaurants and eateries across the city.

Kompa, rasin, and mizik rasin, can be heard throughout Montreal, especially in areas with a significant Haitian population. Festivals and events celebrating Haitian music and dance, such as the Haitian Rhythm Festival, showcase the vibrant cultural heritage of Haiti in Montreal.

Montreal’s Haitian community has contributed significantly to the city’s artistic and literary scene. Haitian artists and writers often explore themes of identity, migration, and social justice in their work, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of Montreal.

I did this page to present my culture and making it made me realize how I was attached to it.

I can relate to almost everything that is from the Haitian culture, even though I was born here in Canada. But there is so much more about us Haitians, and I wish I could’ve write more about it, but this is a project assignment and I’m lazy anyway.

Overall, Haitian culture has become an integral part of Montreal’s multicultural landscape, contributing to the city’s diversity and enriching its cultural fabric.
